I saw this idea on the very first page of the old Yuku forum and I thought it would be a nice idea to have a poll for some common (and maybe not so common) aspects of Kava's effects.
As Kava affects everyone differently, it is true that one person's experience won't necessarily translate well to another's. However, trends might appear the more responses there are, as we don't all have tons of money to sample all the strains. Instead of a shot in the dark with trying a Kava out for themselves, maybe they will see that 80% of people found, say, Stone to be the best for insomnia, so they have at least some idea. This has been something I've wanted in the past, and I know would be of great use to new Kava drinkers.
Furthermore, I think it would be a great opportunity to visualize differences in how Kava affects various people. For instance, it might be true that if person A tends to get more heavy relaxation from high Kavain strains (as opposed to high DHM, which I think is more common) and person B feels the same way, maybe person B will like what person A likes for, say, anxiety. Maybe we have genetic differences that account for the varying effects from a given strain that people experience.
For instance, people of darker skin (notably African Americans) were found to have a difference in the metabolism of nicotine where menthol is present which resulted in higher blood serum levels of nicotine in African Americans vs. Caucasians.
I'd like to hear from what Kava everyone would include. I know there's a tremendous amount of strains from different vendors, but I'd like to narrow it down to relatively common ones.
My initial idea was to have the following categories:
-Anxiety
-Insomnia
-Pain
-Muscle Relaxation
-Uplifting, mood enhancing
-Creative/spiritual/cerebral/sensory enhancing
I was thinking of keeping it to just powders, not instants, candy, etc.
It seems that the poll option on the forum here only allows for one poll per posting, so I was thinking of doing a copy/paste sort of poll wherein people would provide how long they've been drinking Kava (to sort out reverse tolerance findings) and then fill in the *form* to list their favorite as there are just too many strains to have in an individual poll I think. (but maybe not...?)
The form would be to copy and past something like:
-Anxiety- _________
-Insomnia- _________
etc.
Input very welcome.
